About The Devil Inside

Is it AI or is it real?
Well, both.

Reviving The Devil Inside: A Musical Journey Through Time and Technology

Laszlo Tamasi, owner and manager of Music Point Studio, has always been a pioneer in exploring the boundaries of music production. He is also a composer, drummer, and writer. As the executive producer of The Devil Inside, Tamasi has once again showcased his knack for creating evocative, boundary-pushing music. This unique project blends traditional songwriting artistry with the innovation of AI technology, delivering a fresh and immersive listening experience.

The Origins of The Devil Inside

The story of The Devil Inside began years ago with a dark country project at Music Point Studio. Initially designed for an online short film and later for a documentary film, the project gave rise to numerous recordings and ideas. “I was happy to accept this invitation because even though I grew up in Hungary, I have American roots through my father. My great-grandmother was an American woman who married and settled in Hungary. She fled to Europe from Conway, Arkansas, in 1902. Her first marriage went badly, and she got involved in some pretty nasty stuff. Later, it was rumoured that her first husband had been hanged. So, she left the States for Europe. There, she met my great-grandfather, who later got her pregnant,” - recalls Tamasi.
“Southern rock is close to my heart — I spent years playing and touring with rockabilly and rock bands as a drummer and songwriter.” Between 2018 and 2020, several unfinished song parts, recorded riffs, grooves, and musical foundations were created in New York with the help of talented American studio musicians. Many thanks to Mitch Canyon, Colton Ashford, Riley Copperfield, Nash Briggs, Dylan Harper, and many more. “I currently live in New York and Budapest, and since 2018, we've been producing production music in my own studio. During that time, we recorded several ideas for that project, but they were not ultimately completed,” said Tamasi.
Even in its early stages, the project showcased incredible promise. Two different lead singers contributed vocal melodies, and Laszlo Tamasi, with his extensive experience as a lyricist and ghost producer, penned lyrics for the songs. Despite the progress, financial challenges led to the project’s cancellation, leaving these creative works shelved and incomplete.

Breathing New Life into Old Ideas

Fast forward to the summer of 2024: curiosity and technological advancements reignited the project. Determined not to let these brilliant ideas and recordings go to waste, Tamasi and his team turned to AI technology. Experimenting with several AI platforms, they breathed new life into the project, transforming it into something far greater than initially envisioned. By blending existing recordings, original lyrics, and AI enhancements, The Devil Inside emerged as a unique fusion of artistry and innovation. Much of the material—vocals, guitars, grooves, and riffs—originates from live recordings, later enhanced with modern tools like filters and autotune. Some elements were further developed or augmented using AI platforms, always guided by human creative direction. “As an executive producer, my main goal is to entertain people, and I think AI is a fantastic tool for creativity. The machine doesn't work without us, but it's an incredible tool in our hands. If we use it properly, we can create fantastic things,” said Tamasi. “In most cases, we add additional instruments and stems, such as guitar solos, percussion, synthesizers, etc., to the track, which was generated from our own riffs or grooves. And then mixing and mastering are part of the post-production. The published images are for illustration purposes only and are not intended to deceive or mislead anyone. These images are part of a carefully crafted visual world that complements the music’s dark, cinematic atmosphere, much like a graphic novel or a fictional film universe. But that doesn't mean that talented musicians, sound-engineers, or composers haven't worked on the project and are still working on it. So, The Devil Inside is an audiovisual music project set in the world of a fictional band. The songs are inspired by real artists, but the characters are illustrative.”

The Music That Speaks to the Soul

What makes The Devil Inside truly special isn’t just its cutting-edge production process but the emotional resonance of the music itself. The songs evoke powerful emotions, drawing listeners into a world of dark country, hard rock tones and thought-provoking narratives. Audience feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, affirming that the project’s revival was a step in the right direction.
"If we can entertain with the music and with these songs and the audience enjoys it and loves it, then what we all worked for has been achieved," says Tamasi. The reception from listeners has underscored the importance of creating music that not only innovates but also connects deeply with its audience. “I am very close to this kind of mystical, gothic, dark world. I've written several poems before, and the lyrics could easily be incorporated into this project. Usually, my own experiences inspire my lyrics, events, experiences that have happened to me, or things I hear, see, or read, such as when I sadly lost my father in September 2024. This inspired many of my later lyrics (for example, for the Unholy Requiem album). In addition to several short stories I've published previously, my first novel, another dark, gothic 19th-century historical crime thriller, will be published in September 2025. And I'm currently working on my second novel, also set in 19th-century western America.”

What Comes Next: Taking the Darkness Live

The success of The Devil Inside has inspired Tamasi and his team to continue their work, pushing the boundaries of music production while staying true to the emotional core of their songs. The blend of boldness, innovation, and heartfelt artistry promises a bright future for the project, ensuring that it remains a powerful force in the music world.
As The Devil Inside continues to evolve, one thing remains certain: it’s not just about how the songs are made but the unforgettable experience they offer to those who listen. With every note and lyric, the project delivers moments of boldness and beauty, ensuring its place in the hearts of music lovers everywhere. “As a musician, I've done a lot of concerts and tours, so I know the magic of a live concert. It's a fantastic feeling to hear a band that you're passionate about live, so we’re thrilled to share that we plan to bring The Devil Inside project to the stage in the near future. This has been a long-time dream of ours, and the thought of transforming this story into a live performance fills us with excitement. There’s something incredibly powerful about connecting with an audience in real time, and we can’t wait to explore the raw energy, emotion, and intensity that The Devil Inside deserves on stage. Stay tuned—this is only the beginning,” said Tamasi. “We also invite fans to share their thoughts, interpretations, or personal connections to the songs—we believe music is not just to be heard, but to be lived together. And one last thought at the end: some stories are too dark to be told with words alone. That’s why we make music.”
